Good example for me was Hooty and the Blowfish and even extends to classical music. But experience over those many years taught me that what has instant appeal doesn't always last, whereas music that doesn't at first grab the attention can be found to have a depth and quality that needs to be looked for. I first heard Tusk about 30 years ago (can that be true?!!) when after listening once I could find nothing in it. When you get to CD 3 the alternate version, it will be immediately enthralled.
CD 2 shows how many of the songs were created. When I say "styles of music ",what I am trying to articulate is that they are all unique to Fleetwood Mac.Īll 3 cds have been beautifully remastered, so you need have no fear as to the quality of the sound quality. What Fleetwood Mac achieved with this album was to show you that their musical horizons were infinitesimal. There are so many different styles of music here,that would make your head spin. What many failed to realise the sheer amount of complexity on this album. Ofcourse everyone is entitled to their opinion, be it good, bad or indifferent.
As such, I ignored all of the music critics of the day. I knew that Tusk would be completely different from Rumours.
The very next day I went out and bought the double vinyl. When I first heard the title track Tusk it was on a pirate radio station. To say that Tusk was a bold and brave release, would be an understatement. It was the polar opposite to what the music industry and the so called music critics expected. Never afraid to do things "large ", Fleetwood Mac created this behemoth of a release. I mention this because back when it was first released, it cost a small fortune to produce and record a double vinyl release. How on earth can a band create another album after the monumental global success of Rumours? Well folks, first off they throw not one,but two left field curved balls that then become two right field curved balls.
